RIIMPO316E - Conduct Self–Propelled Compactor Operations

Assessment and Course Delivery

Experience Required
  • Assessment consists of theory (written) and practical demonstrations.
  • Face to face. One machine per operator.
  • This unit is competency based. A logbook and or declaration of experience is encouraged.
  • Course are run on demand at your work site where a self-propelled compactor is available.

Cost per participant includes learning materials, assessment materials (theory & practical) and issue of the statement of attainment and wallet-sized card.

Assessment and Course Delivery

To receive a Nationally Recognised unit of competency the operator must be able to demonstrate they have at least 100 hours operating the machine to workplace standards.

Evidence of operating the machinery in the workplace must include either a Logbook or a 3rd party declaration from their employer or both and at least one referee able to confirm the information provided.

Information must include as a minimum:

  • Type of machine(s)
  • Hours spent on the machine (including dates)
  • Type of work completed
  • Location or project where the work was completed
  • Names, signatures and contact details.
Course Fees:
  • Cost $620 (without CITB eligible worker ID Number)
  • Cost $260 (with CITB eligible worker ID Number)

Course Objective

Provide participants with the skills and knowledge to conduct self propelled compactor operations in the civil construction industry.

Course Outcome

On successful completion participants will be issued with a wallet sized card and Statement of Attainment – RIIMPO316E Conduct self –propelled compactor operations. This is a module from the RII30820 – Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations.

Course Content

  • Inspect the work area and ground conditions and prepare for self propelled compactor
  • Conduct machine pre-operational checks
  • Operate the self propelled compactor, select and fit attachments
  • Park and shutdown the self propelled compactor
  • Relocate the self propelled compactor and complete house keeping procedures

Pre-requisites / Clothing & Equipment Requirements

  • Students must be 18 years of age and able to speak, read and understand basic English to communicate to a safe level.
  • Students must provide photo identification upon enrolment in the course (e.g. driver’s licence; passport or proof of age card).
  • Students must wear personal protective equipment while attending the course including long sleeve shirt, steel capped boots and long trousers.
  • Red Earth Training Solutions will supply high vis vest if required.
  • Students must have a unique student identifier (USI) to obtain their nationally accredited certificate or qualification. To apply for a USI go to www.usi.gov.au.
