Training and assessment for civil, mining and construction

Mobile Plant assessments are undertaken to Duty of Care standard in accordance with NOHSC:7019 {1992}

Assessments only process are available for operators who have been operating plant or have experience and require validation to meet WHS requirements.

Assessments occur only when the participant can demonstrate that they have some experience. Evidence of experience can include a record of workplace activities or a signed declaration stating their machine experience. On successful completion of the assessment a Duty of Care Card (also known as a competency card will be issued).

Assessment is face to face and has both theory and practical assessment components in the course.

Note: Should the applicant sign a declaration stating their machine experience and the assessor deems that the applicant cannot demonstrate the required skills and requires training, the process will be stopped and the applicant will have to attend the Duty of Care Card - No Experience session and pay the additional fee.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) s required to undertake the assessment. Enclosed non-slip footwear, long pants and long sleeve shirt with high Vis are required.

Failure to arrive with correct PPE may prevent the participant from undertaking the assessment.

Requirements include a level of language and literacy to enable them to meet the requirements of the course.

All participants must produce photographic identification prior to commencing their assessment.

Generous Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Rebates are available for eligible construction workers. Please apply on line at www.citb.org.au prior to assessment or training for a CITB discount card.


It is recommended if you have not used your CITB funding in the last six months that you contact CITB to ensure it is still current. CITB numbers must be valid on the day of assessment or training.

Cost of assessment range from $260-$280.00 with a CITB rebate or $450-$480 without rebate.

Duty of Care Card - No Experience

Need a Duty of Care Card but have no experience? Plant training can be undertaken prior to the assessment to give participants the relevant skills and knowledge required to operate machinery at a basic level with issuance of a Duty of Care Card (also known as a Competency Card) after successful completion.
