Duty of Care

Training and assessment for civil, mining and construction

Mobile Plant assessments are undertaken to Duty of Care standard in accordance with NOHSC:7019 {1992}

Duty of Care Card - Experienced Operators

An assessment only process is available for operators who have been operating plant or have experience and require validation to meet WHS requirements.

The participant must be able to demonstrate that they have some experience. Evidence of experience can include a record of workplace activities or a signed declaration stating machine experience.

The assessment is face to face and includes both theory and practical components.

Length of assessment is 4 hours.

Cost of assessment is $260.00 with a CITB rebate or $510.00 without rebate.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required to undertake the assessment. i.e. enclosed non-slip footwear, long pants and a long sleeve shirt. Failure to arrive with the correct PPE may prevent the participant from undertaking the assessment.

Requirements include an intermediate level of language and literacy to enable the participant to meet the requirements of the course.

All participants must produce photographic identification prior to commencing their assessment.

On successful completion of the assessment a Duty of Care Card (also known as a competency card will be issued).

Note: Should the applicant sign a declaration stating their machine experience and the assessor deems that the applicant cannot demonstrate the required skills and requires training, the process will be stopped and the applicant will have to attend the “Duty of Care Card - No Experience” session and pay the additional fee.

Duty of Care Card - No Experience

Need a Duty of Care Card but have no experience? Plant training can be undertaken prior to the assessment to give participants the relevant skills and knowledge required to operate machinery at a basic level with issuance of a Duty of Care Card (also known as a Competency Card) after successful completion.
