RIISS00061 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for High Volume Roads

Overview

Course Objective

Provide participants with the skills and knowledge required to implement traffic management plans in temporary traffic management category 2 environments on high-volume roads.

Course Outcome

On successful completion, participants will be issued a statement of attainment for the RIISS00061 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for High Volume Roads and a Temporary Traffic Management Card issued by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport.

Assessment and Course Delivery

Assessment is both theory and practical-based.

The course runs for one day in a classroom setting at our site in Burton, followed by the completion of three different setups based on traffic management plans and traffic guidance scheme on a category 2 road.

After the practical training setups have been recorded, our assessor will arrange a visit to your live site to conduct the final assessment.

** Participants must complete the live-site practical training activities within six months of attending the classroom / simulated session. **
*** Participants may complete the live site practical training in their own workplace. For participants who are not currently working in the industry, RETS can organise a live site practical placement with a traffic management company. ***

Finish Time: 4:00pm

Course Fees

  • $600 without CITB eligible worker ID number
  • $420 with CITB eligible worker ID number

Pre-requisites

  • Students must provide evidence of the following before enrolment in the course:
    1. Completion of RIISS00060 Traffic Management implementer Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads
    2. At least one (1) month experience applying skills and knowledge relevant to the RIISS00060 skill set in a TTM workplace
    3. Provide evidence of relevant experience setting up at least twelve (12) TTM types, including high-speed roads or high-volume roads, and at least two of the following types:
      • Pedestrian and cyclist controls
      • Construction sites
      • Lane closures
      • Shoulder closures
      • Night works
      • Use of portable traffic control devices
      • Motorways or freeways
  • Students must be able to speak, read, and understand basic English to communicate to a level that allows them to perform their duties safely.
  • Students must wear personal protective equipment while attending the course, including a long-sleeved, high-visibility shirt, steel-capped boots, and long trousers.
  • Students must have a unique student identifier (USI) to obtain their nationally accredited statement of attainment.
