Short Term Low Impact (STLI) Non Accredited Course

This is a non-accredited course and does not result in a nationally recognised unit of competency.

This course provides workers with the skills and knowledge required to implement temporary traffic management measures for works classified as Short Term Low Impact (STLI), in accordance with simplified Traffic Guidance Schemes and site-specific risk assessments.

What is Short Term Low Impact Work?

Short Term Low Impact (STLI) work refers to tasks that are:

  • Of short duration
  • Low risk and low impact to traffic
  • Conducted with minimal plant, equipment and personnel
  • Frequently changing in location
  • Located sufficiently clear of traffic
  • Able to be quickly removed from the worksite

STLI work is undertaken without the use of accredited Traffic Management personnel and relies on simplified Traffic Guidance Schemes, following a site-specific risk assessment.

STLI Work Does Not Include:

  • Works exceeding a single shift in duration
  • Long-term static works
  • Mobile works
  • Works involving stopping traffic (Traffic Controllers)
  • Works requiring speed limit changes
  • Works requiring pedestrians to be redirected from their normal path

Duration

  • Classroom Training: 7 hours

Course duration may vary slightly depending on group size and delivery conditions

All course fees are GST-free for accredited training.

You may be eligible for subsidised training through the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). Call CITB on (08) 8172 9500 or visit their website www.citb.org.au to check your eligibility.

CITB subsidy is subject to eligibility and CITB approval. Subsidy amounts and conditions may change and annual caps may apply. Please confirm your eligibility with CITB before enrolling.

Additional fees may apply for travel, accommodation and critical resource requirements for regional or workplace-based delivery.
Where applicable, a written quote will be provided prior to enrolment confirmation.

  • Understand the principles of Short Term Low Impact traffic management

  • Recognise the limits of STLI work and when accredited traffic management is required

Course Outcome

On successful completion, you’ll receive:

  • Certificate of Completion – TTM Short Term Low Impact Worker

(issued by Red Earth Training Solutions)

Important Notes

  • This course is non-accredited
  • It does not issue a Statement of Attainment
  • It does not qualify participants to work as a:
    • Traffic Controller
    • Traffic Management Implementer
    • Traffic Management Designer

Completion of this course does not guarantee employment.

Entry Requirements

You must:

  • Hold a valid construction induction (white card)
  • Provide valid photo ID (driver’s licence, passport, or proof-of-age card)
  • Wear appropriate PPE: long-sleeve shirt, long trousers, and steel-capped boots (hi-visibility vest will be supplied by RETS if required)
  • Be able to read, write, speak and understand English at a level sufficient to follow safety instructions and communicate effectively in the workplace

Language, Literacy, Numeracy & Digital Skills Requirements

All participants are required to complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills (LLND) assessment prior to enrolment.

This assessment is designed to ensure that all participants have the necessary skills to fully engage with the course content and assessment requirements. It is not intended to create barriers, but rather to support participants by identifying any areas where additional assistance may be needed, helping to set everyone up for success.

If you have any concerns regarding literacy or numeracy, our staff can provide guidance and access to support services at no additional cost. Our goal is to ensure that all participants are confident and capable of safely and effectively completing their training.
