TLILIC0003 - Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck

Training Options

Duration

  • Beginner pathway: 3 Days – Approx. 24 hours
  • Experienced pathway: 2 Days – Approx. 16 hours

The duration is determined based on prior experience, evidence provided, and trainer assessment. Duration may vary depending on participant experience, group size, and assessment requirements.

A $100 deposit is required upon booking to secure a course place. The remaining balance is payable on the first day of the course, unless otherwise specified.

All course fees are GST-free for accredited training.

You may be eligible for subsidised training through the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). Call CITB on (08) 8172 9500 or visit their website www.citb.org.au to check your eligibility.

CITB subsidy is subject to eligibility and CITB approval. Subsidy amounts and conditions may change and annual caps may apply. Please confirm your eligibility with CITB before enrolling.

Additional Costs

Additional fees may apply for travel, accommodation and critical resource requirements for regional or workplace-based delivery.
Where applicable, a written quote will be provided prior to enrolment confirmation.

What You’ll Learn

  • Plan forklift operations in line with WHS requirements
  • Calculate load capacity and assess load stability
  • Conduct routine pre-operational forklift checks
  • Operate a forklift safely to lift, carry and place loads
  • Manoeuvre and position loads at varying heights and locations
  • Shut down equipment and secure the forklift and work area
  • Complete workplace documentation and report hazards or faults

Course Outcome & Licensing

On successful completion, you’ll receive:

  • Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment: TLILIC0003 Licence to operate a forklift truck
  • Notice of Satisfactory Assessment (NSA)
  • Tax Invoice for licensing purposes

High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) – Safework SA

This course is delivered in accordance with Safe Work Australia’s National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work.
In South Australia, High Risk Work Licences are administered by SafeWork SA.
Following successful assessment, participants may apply for a High Risk Work Licence:

 

  • Take your NSA and Tax Invoice to a Service SA Customer Service Centre or Australia Post Photo Point outlet in South Australia within 60 days
  • Present 100-point original identification
  • Pay the High Risk Work Licence fee (approximately $98.00) directly to Service SA or Australia Post (this fee is not included in course fees)
  • Your High Risk Work Licence card will be issued by SafeWork SA and mailed to you
  • The licence is valid for five (5) years and must be renewed with the regulator

Red Earth Training Solutions does not issue High Risk Work Licences. All licensing decisions are made by the relevant regulator.

Entry Requirements

You must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have driving experience and be able to safely operate a vehicle (hold or previously held a c-class licence)
  • Provide valid photo ID (driver’s licence, passport, or proof-of-age card)
  • Have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) – apply at www.usi.gov.au
  • Wear appropriate PPE: long-sleeve shirt, long trousers, and steel-capped boots (hi-visibility vest will be supplied by RETS if required)
  • Be able to read, write, speak and understand English at a level sufficient to follow safety instructions and communicate effectively in the workplace
  • Participants are required to read the learner guide prior to attending training

Language, Literacy, Numeracy & Digital Skills Requirements

All participants are required to complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills (LLND) assessment prior to enrolment.

This assessment is designed to ensure that all participants have the necessary skills to fully engage with the course content and assessment requirements. It is not intended to create barriers, but rather to support participants by identifying any areas where additional assistance may be needed, helping to set everyone up for success.

If you have any concerns regarding literacy or numeracy, our staff can provide guidance and access to support services at no additional cost. Our goal is to ensure that all participants are confident and capable of safely and effectively completing their training.
